Milford Middle School to hold Green Week

Milford Middle School’s 22nd annual Green Week, a week of activities, contests and projects promoting environmental awareness, will be held May 22-25.

Monday and Tuesday, 5/22 and 23

6th Grade Band and Recycling Club students will be working with Jeff Erwin, creator of Junk 2 Funk.

Junk 2 Funk is a high-energy, confidence-building performance program emphasizing the importance of teamwork while addressing current environmental issues. J2F is considered by many to be one of the best artist-in-residence programs in New England. Think Stomp meets Blue Man Group meets the Green Police.

Tuesday, 5/23

The whole school will get to experience Jeff and the 6th grade groups in an exciting, high-energy Junk 2 Funk performance.

Wednesday, 5/24

Ray Dube, sustainability manager for Coca-Cola, will be sharing his message “Getting to Zero Waste” with the 8th grade science classes.

Thursday, 5/25

Danielle Baudrand, artist and plastic ban activist from Keene, will be working with 7th grade students to create an art piece made of individual ideas about pollution and the environment, which will later be put together as one piece like a quilt. This “Climate Quilt” will then be displayed at MMS and later at a local museum for others to see, as well.

There will also be daily “green” activities, contests and prizes all week long.
