Boomerang Bags

Milford is the first town on the international Boomerang Bag map for New Hampshire and Vermont, thanks to Celeste Philbrick Barr, of the Milford Recycling Committee, Diane Varney-Parker, Milford Middle School teacher, and their friends who are making reusable shopping bag from T-shirts and sweatshirts. They need more people to sew, and everyone is invited to drop in between 1-4 p.m. at the Free Spirit Boutique on the Milford Oval for a demonstration. Bring clean T-shirts for donating or making into shopping bags. To get motivated, watch the videos ‘The Life of a Plastic Bag’ and ‘Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch.’ Above, Deb Eastman-Proulx, of the Loudon Recycling Committee, who came to a Boomerang Bag sewing bee at the Wadleigh Memorial Library early in February.
