‘Six years of waffle breakfasts’

Milford Fire Capt. Mike Parkhurst shows off the custom-painted Harley-Davidson motorcycle recently donated to the Milford Fire Department by Stephen Talarico, of Milford, owner of Manchester-based DIRICO Motorcycles USA. The department will raffle off the bike at its annual Firemen’s Ball May 19, with proceeds going to the Milford Fire Department Relief Association. There will only be 300 tickets sold, at $100 each. ‘It’s an amazing donation,’ said Parkhurst, who has been working on the project with firefighter Mike Goldstein. The donation ‘equals six years of waffle breakfasts,’ Parkhurst said. The monthly breakfasts have been the department’s traditional way to raise the money. The bike, which is painted fire engine red, of course, has the logo of Milford Fire Department’s Engine 2. It will be displayed at the transfer station, County Stores’ parking lot and other places around town.
