Health and Wellness Fair on tap Saturday

MILFORD – Trying to get healthy is sometimes be dull and boring, but it can be fun, especially when you take the whole family to a free event.

This Saturday, there will be giveaways, demonstrations and expert health advice at the Community Health and Wellness Fair . It’s sponsored by the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce and Southern New Hampshire Health.

The fifth annual fair, it runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, 56 Mont Vernon Road in Milford.

It’s intended for all ages, and more than 35 community organizations and businesses will be on hand for a winter day outing.

Food concessions will be available for lunch, and there will also be plenty of activities for kids. Amy Conley of Milford will be performing throughout the fair, and there will be arts and craft activities. Children can make Valentines and can have their faces painted.

There will be workshops covering topics such as: “Good Mood Food,” “Financial Health,” and “Ways to Avoid Caregiver Burnout.” The fair’s theme this year is “Caring for Yourself, Caring for Others.”

C.A.S.T. (Community Action for Safe Teens) will have information on substance abuse.

Fair attendees who visit all the booths will also have a chance to win prizes donated by chamber member businesses.

This year, they are collecting for a “warmth drive” for local residents in need. Bring donations of “warm foods” – mac ‘n cheese, soup, peanut butter, jelly, canned food and other non- perishables, as well as warm clothing in all sizes – hats, mittens, socks and scarves.

Other event sponsors include United Way of Greater Nashua, Amy Conley Music and Family Dental Care of Milford. For information about this event and the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce, visit www.souhegan.net or call 673-4360.
