Students honor volunteers, others

WILTON – For the third year, Florence Rideout Elementary School students teamed up on May 17 to honor all those who volunteer in both Wilton and Lyndeborough. Included were firefighters and first responders, police, library personnel, and school board members.

Because of rain, the planned outdoor event moved into the cafeteria.

Every student in the school was involved, Principal Tim O’Connell said, from the first graders who made paper flowers and second graders who made place mats, to others who made and installed the decorations. The fifth graders served as hosts and hostesses, waiters and servers.

Each guest was presented a menu which included a fruit cup, bagels with cream cheese and breakfast wraps. All food was prepared by the lunch ladies. O’Connell manned the coffee machine.
