13th Lyndeborough Community Day scheduled for Aug. 10

LYNDEBOROUGH – The town’s 13th annual Community Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 10, in Lyndeborough Center. The focus is on family fun and most events begin at noon.

Schedule:

9:30 a.m. – Hike to Purgatory Falls with the Conservation Commission. Meet at the end of Purgatory Falls Road. Parking is limited and be aware of private landowners.

11:30 a.m. – Walk the Historic District with the Historical Society. Learn the history of the former Congregational Church, the Town Pound, original Town Hall, former town barn, and tidbits such as the vanished building that housed the horse-drawn hearse.

12 – 5 p.m. – Marketplace with local vendors and craftsmen

12 – 6 – Silent auction in the Hall. Lots of great items have been donated. Bidding ends at 6 and winners will be announced soon afterward. Proceeds benefit the Wilton-Lyndeborough Woman’s Club

12 – 1:30 – Lunch by the Lafayette Artillery Company. $5 hamburger or hot dog plate includes chips and a drink.

12 – 3 – Touch-a-Truck and kids obstacle course. Police and Fire Departments will have vehicles on display; get to know the drivers and their trucks. The Fire Department will have an obstacle course.

3 p.m. – The Historical Society will provide an update of the town histories of 1905 and 1955 which are now close to a first draft. The informational presentation will include questions and answers and input is welcome.

5 – 7 – The Woman’s Club’s BBQ steak dinner. The $15 plate includes steak, baked potato, corn, salad, drink and dessert. A hot dog plate is $5. Take-out will be available.

Dusk – Kid’s movie with free popcorn and s’mores. Bring a chair, blanket and the little ones and toast a marshmallow by the firepit.
