Family Fun Day set for Saturday

Geared towards uniting families and generations, Milford Family Fun day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

“The event is sponsored by, among many, the Milford Summer Basketball League, which has a 3-on-3 tournament,” said Pastor Paul Sontag, of the Light of World Christian Church. “It’s also sponsored by various Souhegan Valley churches and a number of community organizations that partner with us as well, so it’s really a combination of town and civic organizations along with the faith community.”

Free activities include crafts, face painting, a dunk tank, slippery slides, a bouncy house, and live music.

“There are all types of things that join the generations together,” said Sontag.

Exhibitors that will also be on hand include, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Bridges, Community Action for Safe Teens (CAST) and the National Recovery Coalition of NH as well as several church groups.

“Our basic goal is outreach, for those that have been dealing with the impact of the opioid crisis in our community and in our state,” said Sontag. “We stand for those people impacted by drug and alcohol. We want to offer resources.”

Sontag added that there will be free food, a major attraction to many families.

“We do our best,” he said. “But we can’t feed the whole town of Milford. Hundreds of people turn out!”

Sontag continued by saying, “We’re there if the weather cooperates. But we’ve never been rained out. And I’m not superstitious.”
