Tax bills set to go out week of Nov. 18

LYNDEBOROUGH – The town tax rate cannot be set until after the special School District meeting on Saturday to resolve a school district funding issue. Tax bills cannot legally be sent until the tax rate has been set.

It is anticipated that tax bills will be sent out during the week of Nov. 18, with bills due within 30 days. Bills are usually mailed before the end of October.

In an effort to avoid the need to borrow money to cover year-end operating expenses, the select board is asking property owners to pay the amount reflected on their July bills prior to receiving their tax bills in mid-November.

It was estimated at a recent board meeting that the cost of a tax anticipation loan would be around $6,000.
