Fourth of July fireworks canceled

MILFORD – As is the case for many towns and cities across the Granite State, the Milford fireworks have been canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19. And per the Milford Recreation department, the Star Spangled 5K Run/Walk has been canceled as have summer concerts. Science camp and other events are postponed and to be determined at a future date. Additionally, the Nashua and Amherst fireworks events have been canceled as well. A committee for Amherst’s fourth celebration said, “While we miss our annual community festival as well as the chance to incorporate additional celebrations this year as planned, the safety of our citizens is paramount.” This following the cancelation of traditional Fourth of July ceremonies in major cities across the region. In light of the annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular and concert on the Charles River Esplanade, the Pops will instead present, “A Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes,” a pre-recorded special to air on July 4 at 8 p.m. on Boston’s WHDH station.
