St. Joseph Hospital announces new Urgent Care E.D. chief

MILFORD – St. Joseph Hospital, a member of Covenant Health, announced Deepak R. Vatti, M.D. has been named the hospital’s Chief of Emergency Medicine. In this leadership position, he will oversee operations of the hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) and Milford Medical Center’s Urgent Care in Milford, N.H., while continuing his clinical work in the ED. Dr. Vatti first joined St. Joseph Hospital in 2016 as the Assistant Director of the Emergency Department after being SUNY Upstate Medical University’s Chief Resident.

“I’m pleased to expand Dr. Vatti’s role in Emergency Medicine,” Vice President of Medical Affairs Alison Madden said. “The emergency department is a very busy point of entry to the hospital, handling more than 24,000 visits annually. Ensuring patients are met with high-quality care and compassion is of the utmost importance.”

Added Madden, “Dr. Vatti’s clinical reputation is exemplary. He is well-respected and well-liked by his peers and patients, alike. I look forward to his leadership of the department and continued contributions to the team.”

Vatti said he is excited to lead the effort to ensure that the E.D. continues to run smoothly.”

Vatti holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Services from Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. He received his Medical Doctorate from Ross University School of Medicine, which is now located in Bridgetown, Barbados and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.
