Rotary Lawn Party & Member Recognition Night

On Sept. 3, 39 members of the Milford Rotary Club gathered to enjoy a BBQ-style boxed dinner and fellowship, socially distanced of course, at the President’s Lawn Party & Member Recognition Night in Centennial Park. It was so great to have so many Club members back together in person again. Club leaders used this event to honor some very hard working and deserving Rotarians. Past President Janet Langdell presented a Stan Powers Award to MRC Treasurer Todd Leo and to the current MRC President Tim Finan. Todd Leo was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellow. President Tim Finan presented MRC Board Member and 100 Holes of Golf Chair, Douglas Knott, with a Paul Harris Fellow. Allise de Smet was presented with her third Paul Harris Fellow. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is among the highest honors bestowed by Rotary International. This fantastic night came to a beautiful end with a gorgeous double rainbow in the sky. In 2005, to recognize the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International, the Club created the Milford Rotary Club Centennial Park, in the shape of the Rotary Emblem, for the entire community to enjoy on the grounds of the Milford Community House. The Park also lists the engraved names of Park contributors as well as the names of Milford Rotarians who are no longer with us. Former President Bob Moulton placed a vase of red and white roses near the names of those who have passed. Last year, Milford Rotary raised and donated over $100,000 through its charitable giving and scholarship programs.
