Milford man killed during motorcycle event at NHMS

LOUDON – An avid motorcyclist from Milford was killed during a road racing event at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Aug. 1.

Scott Mullin, 38, succumbed to his injuries in a single-bike accident at an event hosted by Northeast Motorcycle Road Racing.

Mullin was considered to be an expert-level cyclist. The incident occurred during the third lap of the Unlimited Superbike event as he entered turn six of the 1.6 mile road course at the speedway.

Mullin also managed Souhegan Valley Motorsports in Milford, which has been owned and operated by his family for years and has supported dozens of racers at the speedway during that time.

“Scott was a beloved member of the NEMRR motorcycle racing family and will be sorely missed,” NEMRR president John Grush stated. “On behalf of NEMRR, we send our heartfelt love and support to his family and loved ones.”

A 2001 graduate of Souhegan Coop High School in Amherst, Mullin earned his degree from the University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business and Economics in 2005.

In a statement from NHMS, they said, in part, “Not only was he always one of the first people to lend a helping hand to a fellow competitor with equipment or support, he also helped up-and-coming motorcycle racers get their foothold and was a true leader and advocator of motorcycle racing.”

An outpouring of support was visible on social media following his passing. He is survived by his wife and two children.
