Board inks new contract

LYNDEBOROUGH – On Wednesday, Dec. 15, the Board of Selectmen met with Jason Johnson, director of Milford Area Communications Center, and signed a new two-year service contract. No changes were made in the current contract.

Johnson said Milford, Wilton and Mont Vernon are “working on a solution” to on-going updates. Lyndeborough is a client of the service, not a full member.

Johnson said they “would be happy to have you back.”

The board also met with Tom Mitchell of Center Road to discuss an assessing problem. Mitchell’s 2.6 acre lot is mostly in Lyndeborough, but a previous assessor had arbitrarily designated it as two lots, with the Lyndeborough portion “not a buildable lot.” The remainder of the lot is in Wilton.

The selectmen agreed to return the designation to one lot and grant Mitchell a requested tax abatement, while leaving him the opportunity to discuss the matter with the state tax board.

Lyndeborough will have a new assessor after Jan. 1. The selectmen said he will meet with Mitchell to finalize the matter.

Town Administrator Russ Boland said he has exchanged emails with Chris Brown concerning the drainage problems on Brown’s easement through town property on Locust Lane.

Selectman Mark Chamberlain said they need a report on how the driveway will be stabilized and the size of a new culvert. Boland will visit the site.

The board observed a moment of silence in honor of former long-time town moderator James “Bud” McEntee who died on Wednesday. They voted a donation to the Fire Association in his memory. McEntee was a founder of the Wilton-Lyndeborough Ambulance Service and a long-time supporter of the Fire Department.
