Commission establishes scholarship

WILTON – The Heritage Commission has created a $5,000 scholarship in honor of Stanley Young, an original member of the Commission who retired recently.

Applicants must be graduating seniors of the Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative High School, High Mowing Waldorf School, or homeschooled within the district a student who intends to pursue a post-secondary education at a college, university, or trade school. Preference will be given to a student planning to study history, education, film or videography.

Applications must be received by April 20 and must include a transcript and a reference letter.

Applicants are asked to visit the 22 Heritage Commission historic markers and write about three of them. Locations can be flound on the Heritage Commission website.

They are also asked to watch the video “Wilton and Lyndeborough- A Shared History” made last year by the Heritage Commission for the fourth grade, which can be found on the Wiltonnh.gov website or on Youtube.

Donations to the scholarship will be accepted until April. Information will be available at the Winter Festival om Feb. 12, and at Town Meeting on March10.
