TILTON – Margaret LaBrecque, the first female, non-military veteran, retires on March 4 as New Hampshire Veterans Home Commandant. Kimberly MacKay will lead the Home as its 11th Commandant in the Home’s 132-year history.
LaBrecque began serving the Home 17 years ago after transferring from the NH Liquor Commission. She was promoted from Business Administrator to Director of Administrative Services. In 2013, LaBrecque became Commandant, leading the Home’s mission of caring for our State’s veterans with dignity, honor, and respect.
“I would like to congratulate Peggy for her years of dedication to Veterans and the New Hampshire Veterans Home,” shared NH Veterans Home Board of Managers Chair, Paul Lloyd. “She has treated everyone with the utmost respect and care. Under her direction and leadership, she has improved the policies and procedures, and implemented technology to create efficiencies. We wish her a very happy retirement.”
When asked her thoughts about retirement, LaBrecque said, “I will miss being here daily but look forward to returning as a volunteer to stay connected with our veterans, staff and families.”
MacKay began as Commandant on January 28th after transferring from the Glencliff Home, New Hampshire’s only other state-run long term care facility. She began her service to our Veterans with long-term care and administrative experience as well as 15 years of state service.
MacKay shared, “I felt the pride from the moment I walked in the doors. I am very honored to be serving our Veterans and leading our team of dedicated employees.”
Lloyd added, “We welcome Kim and look forward to her leadership as we continue to provide the best care for our Veterans.”
LaBrecque and MacKay are working in tandem this month to ensure a smooth transition for our Veterans, staff, family members, volunteers, veteran service organizations and community members.
