Francestown’s Old Meeting House to host holiday concert

FRANCESTOWN — Lonesome Train, the blues, country and rockabilly band featuring Francestown’s own Tony Ludwig, is returning to town this weekend to perform at the historic Old Meeting House as part of its “Sundays at 4” summertime music series.

Event organizers “are thrilled to welcome Lonesome Train back again this year. At last year’s Fourth of July act, they rocked the house,” said Martine Villalard-Bohnsack, a member of the Old Meeting House’s board of directors.

The show begins at 4 p.m. Sunday at the meeting house, 1 New Boston Road, where Main Street, the 2nd N.H. Turnpike, and Poor Farm, Greenfield, and New Boston roads come together at the center of town.

Admission is $15 per person, with children under age 16 admitted free. In the event it rains, the concert will take place inside the Old Meeting House. Facemasks are optional, but recommended.

Guests are encouraged to bring “your dancing shoes,” a picnic lunch, and lawn chairs or blankets.

The goal of the “Sundays at 4” series is to “bring diverse and entertaining music to Francestown,” Villalard-Bohnsack said. Concerts take place each Sunday through Aug. 28.

Lonesome Train, meanwhile, is based in the town of Hillsboro, and consists of six accomplished musicians who are well known in the local music scene.

They have also been involved with numerous nationally and internationally known bands.

Their performance vocals are accompanied by a mix of saxophone, harmonica, drums, “and two smoking guitars,” Villalard-Bohnsack said.
