Wilton event returns to large crowds
Street jugglers from Pine Hill School entertained along Main Street and provided impromptu lessons.
WILTON – Summerfest returned to Main Street on Saturday on a glorious summer day. Several hundred people gathered to visit with friends, watch the entertainers, listen to live music, eat and browse through dozens of vendor’s offerings. The street was closed to traffic.
The day began with a pancake breakfast by Clinton Lodge #52. The Fire Department and ambulance service were on hand to explain programs and show off equipment.
Highlight of the day was The Red Trousers Show, internationally known acrobats David Graham and Tobin Renwick, with a routine of juggling and feats on a ladder held in place by fair goers. The two were once students at High Mowing School.
An Artists Market was held at Riverview Mills with fine arts, crafts and live music.
The Lions Club annual Duck Drop closed the downtown portion of the festival, which moved to Carnival Hill at 6 p.m. Wilton Community Center sponsored several hours of family fun and numerous games ending with a fireworks display.
Summerfest was sponsored by Main Street Association.
