Rumble has an added feature
LYNDEBOROUGH – The Rose Mountain Rumble bicycle routes are described as following “the finest narrow, rock-lined dirt roads” in the area, and include Lyndeborough, Francestown, and New Boston, and a lot of elevation to challenge the rider. The ride is called a “gravel grinder.”
The 7th annual event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning and ending at the Town Hall in Lyndeborough Center. Check-in is at 8 a.m.
The event includes lunch provided by the Wilton-Lyndeborough Woman’s Club, and this year has an added, last-minute feature: a tour of the former Congregational Church and a guided walk-and-talk around the Lyndeborough Center Historic District. The church building is being purchased by the Lyndeborough Historical Society for use as a community event center.
The tours will be offered between noon and 2 p.m.
The Rumble, sponsored by the Piscataquog Land Conservancy, offers four routes: 80, 66, and 45 miles, plus a 25-mile route for the casual rider. The longer routes are unmarked, testing the map-reading and navigational skills of the rider. Water stops are provided along all routes.
Piscataquog Land Conservancy is a non-profit organization based in New Boston working to conserve the natural resources of the Piscatasquog, Souhegan, and Nashua River valleys.
