42nd annual event kicks off Friday, runs through Sunday

MILFORD – One of the Souhegan Valley’s most popular annual events is set for this weekend as Milford’s 42nd Great Pumpkin Festival runs Friday-Sunday.
The central location will again be The Oval, but events and activities will be spread to other venues.
The Milford Rotary and Lions clubs will host a beer and wine tasting tent, with a $20 admission charge. Revenue will go to the clubs’ various charitable and scholarship programs.
Visitors should note that Milford’s traffic patterns in and around the center of town will be modified for the length of the Festival.
There will be no east-west traffic through the Oval for the duration of the Festival, with minimal north-south access.
Handicapped parking will be provided on the Town Hall side of Nashua St. between The Oval and School St. Road closings on Friday will run from 4:30-9 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Other vehicle admission to the downtown/Oval area is by permit only.
Nashua Street westerly will be detoured at Clinton Street for all traffic. At Nashua and Franklin streets the road is closed and the detour will be onto Franklin Street.
Starting at 5 p.m. Friday through 3 p.m. Sunday there will be no parking allowed on Franklin and High Streets.
Parking will be available at the Milford High school and Middle School, with shuttle busses running to the Oval during the run of the Festival.
There will be parking available, but no shuttle busses, at Keyes Memorial Park at 127 Elm St. and at the Milford Police Station, 19 Garden St.
