• The Dark Woods will, once again, be “haunting” the back woodlands of Trombly Gardens in Milford. For 11 nights this Halloween season, The Dark Woods will thrill guests with an interactive walk-through experience which has been called “unmistakingly unique.” Featuring local community actors, visitors of The Dark Woods will navigate a dimly lit, twisting path, while being confronted by members of “The Family;” a collection of creeps, cranks and crazies who are not your run-of-the-mill, jump-out-and-scare-you types of characters. The event offers guests an outdoor haunted experience that is interactive, and at times, “uncomfortably hilarious.” Each cast member is the “brainchild” for the development of their own original character, and are all trained to startle, scare, interact and REPEAT. Chad Zingales, the catalyst behind this three-year venture, is a Halloween enthusiast, who credits his life-long love of Halloween to friends and family. Zingales has been working on Halloween attractions for years, and he is excited to continue this tradition, bringing the only theatrical and truly interactive haunted event to Southern New Hampshire.
“We love the opportunity to provide a unique, fun form of entertainment to our guests and their families. For people who ask us, ‘is the Dark Woods scary?’ we simply reply, ‘you’re in the woods, in the dark … at night; we sure hope it’s scary,'” Zingales said. “We have flexibility to ‘tone it down’ for younger guests, and we also offer two nights of Trauma Free Tours, a festive display without all the chaos and scariness.”
Zingales, along with his business partner Mark Devir, fiance Hillary, and father Sam, designed The Dark Woods to be about the overall experience.
“It’s an ‘organic,’ small-town event,” Zingales said. “We have an amazing partnership with the Trombly Family, and Trombly Gardens, and thanks to the support of the community, our production has grown in attendance each year, establishing our event as a “must-see; must-experience.”
The Dark Woods will be open 11 nights in October. Evenings of operation are Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30-10:30 p.m., starting Friday, Oct. 7 at Trombly Gardens, 150 North River Road, Milford.
