House Republicans issues statement on cell phone free education policy

CONCORD – State Rep. Melissa Litchfield (R-Brentwood) released the following statement after the House Education Policy and Administration Committee passed SB 206, requiring public schools to adopt policies to limit the use of cell phones by students.
“As a proud member of the House Education Policy, I sat on the subcommittee alongside Representative Paul Terry (R-Alton) to find a solution to the issues and distractions posed by cell phone use in schools,” said Litchfield. “After extremely compelling testimony from educators, parents, and students on how important it is to protect our children from cell phone use in schools, we are taking action to make sure that our schools remain places of education. We send children to school to learn, not browse Instagram and Tik Tok.”
“I thank my colleagues in the House Education Committee for their hard work on this bill, and I hope that the Senate concurs with us on this critical matter so that we can send this bill to Governor Ayotte.”
