Harbor Care receives $25,000 from The Pinnacle Foundation to help end veteran homelessness in Manchester

MANCHESTER — Harbor Care has received a $25,000 gift from The Pinnacle Foundation to support the bold effort to end veteran homelessness in Manchester and throughout New Hampshire. The donation will help expand access to stable housing for veterans experiencing homelessness by addressing specific housing barriers, such as security deposit costs.
Harbor Care is part of a collaborative initiative alongside Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais to effectively end veteran homelessness in the city by the end of the mayor’s term in January 2026. Since the launch of this campaign last fall, 49 veterans have already been placed into permanent housing–a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when nonprofits, government, and the private sector work together.
“We are incredibly grateful to The Pinnacle Foundation for their ongoing support of our veterans and being part of this critical effort,” said Henry Och, President & CEO of Harbor Care. “Their support helps us bring more veterans home–to safe, stable housing–and provide the care and services they need to rebuild their lives.”
This investment underscores The Pinnacle Foundation’s commitment to addressing urgent community needs and advancing life-changing work.
Kurt W. Strandson, Pinnacle Foundation President, said, “The Pinnacle Foundation was founded to help our community support homelessness, veterans, and financial literacy. We are honored to support the great work Harbor Care provides and the collective mission to end veteran homelessness in our community.”
Through its Veteran Services, Harbor Care provides statewide outreach to veterans facing or at risk of homelessness, connecting them with emergency relief, permanent or transitional housing, employment assistance, and wraparound services, such as medical care and substance use treatment. Each year, Harbor Care serves more than 450 veterans and their families, with a proven track record of helping veterans secure housing, jobs, and self-sufficiency.
In 2017, Harbor Care played a pivotal role in helping the City of Nashua effectively end veteran homelessness. The organization is now helping to replicate that success in Manchester.
