DOVER – Democrat Sarah Chadzynski, a Hillsborough County nonprofit leader, recently declared her candidacy for Congress, standing with community members in front of the Strafford County Corrections Facility, where more than 100 ICE detainees are currently being held.
“I am officially announcing my candidacy for Congress, because New Hampshire needs effective elected leaders who will stand up to MAGA’s assaults on American democracy and freedom. MAGA leadership in Washington are using our tax dollars to fund an unaccountable, militarized police force with the power to assault, detain and disappear people without due process – and it is already being turned on legal residents and American citizens. Congress has the constitutional power and responsibility to rein in these abuses, but it is going to take more than strongly worded letters and tweets. We need members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, to use their constitutional powers to stand up and fight back against this erosion of our civil liberties and the Big Ugly Bill’s gutting of the middle class – and that is exactly why I am running for Congress. Chadzynski brings a fresh perspective to politics, focused on tackling the problems facing New Hampshire families and bringing guardrails back to our democracy. “The Democratic party needs new and fearless leadership, unafraid to stand up for the working class and the underserved. As a teacher and a community organizer, I have seen firsthand how ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things that make a huge difference,” said Chadzynski. “We have the power to change the problems we see in our country. We need to bring the voice of working Granite State families to Congress and make policy that allows us all to thrive.”
The $4 trillion bill providing tax cuts to billionaires passed by the current administration and Congressional Republicans strikes at the core of Chadzynski’s campaign.
“Far too many people in leadership roles across our government are not acting in the interest of American families because they have never had to live the life of someone in the working or middle class,” she said. “Right now, Republicans in Washington are using our tax dollars to rip away funding to rural hospitals, steal food from the tables of working families, detaining and disappearing hardworking people without due process, all while shoveling money to themselves and their rich friends. We need someone representing NH-1 who isn’t afraid to say enough is enough.”
Chadzynski has spent nearly two decades working in education and non-profit management, locally, nationally, and internationally. She is a founding member of The American Coalition for Ukraine and she has worked with a number of nonprofits including MedGlobal and Citizen Ambassador Corps.
Chadzynski is a fierce defender of democracy both here and abroad, serving as the U.S. executive director for DATTALION US Ltd, an organization born out of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. She and her husband, Peter – a timber-framer who served as a linguist in Afghanistan for U.S., NATO and other international organizations – are raising their three children in Lyndeborough.
