Brookline sex offender charged with failure to update registration

NASHUA – Registered sex offender Keith Herbert, 47, of Brookline, was taken into custody on July 24 for allegedly failing to inform authorities of his move from Nashua to Brookline.

According to the Nashua Police Department, on May 30, officers were made aware that Herbert had become “noncompliant with his registration requirements.” Further investigation revealed that he did not complete his quarterly sex offender registration, had failed to report that he changed jobs and purchased a new cell phone.

Herbert has been charged with three counts of change of registration information; duty to inform (subsequent) and duty to report (subsequent).

Herbert was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Aug. 26.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 60 years in prison, up to 20 years of probation and up to $16,000 in fines.
