Fight back against scammers at AARP Scam Jam 2025

MANCHESTER – AARP New Hampshire will be hosting Scam Jam 2025 on Sept. 9 from 1-4 p.m. at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, 100 St. Anselm Dr.
Keynote speaker Douglas Shadel will discuss The Scammer with a Thousand Faces: How to detect and avoid scams in the age of AI.
Shadel is a national speaker for the AARP Fraud Watch Network and the former fraud investigator and special assistant attorney general for the state of Washington. Shadel has collaborated on numerous educational videos and academic studies and co-authored five books about fraud. He also co-authored the 2021 AARP Fraud Frontier Report, one of the largest studies the AARP has ever done on consumer fraud. Shadel is currently the managing director of Fraud Prevention Strategies, LLC in Seattle.
The event will be moderated by Christina FitzPatrick, director of AARP New Hampshire, and will feature the following panelists:
-Victim Witness Advocate Sunny Mulligan Shea of the state Department of Justice
-Deputy Criminal Chief John Kennedy of the U.S. Department of Justice
-Trevor McAden, a paralegal at the state Banking Department
-Supervisory Special Agent Eric Simon of the Boston FBI
-U.S. Postal Inspector Brian Evans
