NASHUA – PRIME, the restaurant at Sky Meadow Country Club, reopened on Dec. 4, two-and-a-half months after gunfire shattered an otherwise peaceful September evening.
Sky Meadow owner Robert Parsons was excited to welcome guests back to his establishment at 6 Mountain Laurels Dr.
“Your support and encouragement over the past months have meant so much to us and we are grateful to be part of such a caring community,” he said in a Facebook post. “PRIME will resume full service with our complete menu and table service. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new friends.”
Ten weeks earlier, Robert DeCesare of Nashua was at PRIME with his wife, Charlene, and their daughter, Makayla, to discuss her upcoming wedding. When alleged shooter Hunter Nadeau barged in, DeCesare dove in front of his family and died in a hail of bullets while saving the lives of his wife and daughter.
Brianna Surette of Georgetown, Mass. was having dinner with her husband, Doug, to celebrate their five-year wedding anniversary when Nadeau reportedly shot her in the leg. It took Brianna more than a month to regain even a remote sense of normalcy in her life.
Sky Meadow employee Steven Burtman of Lowell, Mass. was on duty at a wedding reception when Nadeau reportedly shot him in the face. Burtman was flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and spent four days under sedation. He underwent two reconstructive surgeries and was released. However, Burtman’s mouth remains wired shut with the possibility of additional surgeries.
A Good Samaritan, known only as Jeff, came forward in early-November as the individual who stopped the shooting. During an interview with WHDH, Jeff said he hit Nadeau over the head with a bar stool, which caused him to drop the weapon.
Nadeau, a former Sky Meadow employee, was arrested 30 minutes after the shooting. He remains in custody and is charged with second-degree murder. Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
The case against Nadeau has been transferred to Superior Court where a judge approved the prosecution’s motion to extend the 90-day indictment window. The extension will give prosecuting attorneys until February 2026 to finish building their case.
