Gymnastics Village to celebrate half a century

AMHERST – Gymnastics Village will be celebrating 50 years of inspiring generations of young athletes through the sport of gymnastics.

The celebration will be held at 13 Caldwell Dr. on March 14 from 2-5 p.m. It will feature free open gym access, family games and activities, a photo booth, refreshments as well as opportunities to meet staff and learn more about programs.

Founded by Judy Shenk in March 1976, Gymnastics Village has remained dedicated to its mission of youth fitness through gymnastics instruction. For five decades, the organization has provided a positive, encouraging environment where children build strength, confidence, discipline and lifelong skills both inside and outside the gym.

Shenk continues to be actively involved in the business she built, ensuring that the core values and family-focused philosophy remain at the heart of the organization. Daily operations are led by her daughter-in-law, Director Deanna Shenk and Assistant Director Lisa Moreno. They oversee programming, coaching and the gym’s continued growth. The duo has been with the business for more than 30 years. Deanna started in 1995 and Moreno started the following year.

“This milestone is truly about our community and the village we have built,” said Deanna. “For 50 years, families have trusted us to help their children grow stronger, more confident, and more resilient. We are incredibly grateful for the support and look forward to celebrating with everyone who has been part of our journey.”
