House fire claims life of Wilton woman
WILTON – Linda Anfuso, 69, of Wilton, died in a house fire at 35 Burns Hill Rd. on the morning of March 4.
Wilton firefighters responded at 9:08 a.m. and quickly determined that Anfuso and a 70-year-old man were still on the second floor of the single-family home. After being rescued by firefighters, Anfuso and the man were taken to Elliott Hospital in Manchester to be treated for “significant smoke inhalation.”
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Anfuso was overcome by smoke inhalation. The man remains in critical condition.
Although the incident is under investigation, it is possible that the fire may have been caused by a power outage.
Wilton firefighters were assisted by crews from Lyndeborough, Milford, Mont Vernon, Greenville, Temple, New Ipswich and Peterborough. No firefighters were injured.
