NASHUA – Drew Babcock, 36, of Nashua, was taken into custody on March 13 for allegedly attacking his three-month-old son multiple times.

According to the Nashua Police Department, officers received a letter from the state Division of Children, Youth and Families which stated that the infant had been physically abused and suffered more than 30 fractured bones.

The baby remains hospitalized with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. Doctors have also reported that the boy has not gained any weight since February.

Babcock allegedly told police that he punched his son in the back to get him to stop crying, claiming the baby was colicky. He also admitted to lying on the baby.

He later expressed remorse and told his wife he was unaware that he was inflicting such serious injuries.

Babcock has been charged with eight counts of first degree assault-domestic violence and was held without bail pending his arraignment in Nashua District Court on March 16.

Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 120 years in prison, up to 40 years of probation and up to $32,000 in fines.
