DEA takes down Manchester drug operation, Dominican national gets five years
CONCORD – Raynerson Marcos De La Paz Matos, 31, a Dominican Republic national, was sentenced, on April 14, to five years in prison and one year of supervised release after pleading guilty to fentanyl possession and distribution.
According to court documents, in 2024, agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration conducted 10 controlled purchases from Matos resulting in the seizure of 450 grams of fentanyl, 59 grams of cocaine and 27 grams of crack cocaine. At the time, Matos had Edwin Manuel Saldana and Randy Gabriel De La Paz Matos working for him as drug runners.
“This defendant led a drug trafficking organization that distributed significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine in Manchester and amassed over $200,000 in cash and jewelry from the criminal enterprise,” said U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan. “My office will continue working with law enforcement to protect New Hampshire communities from those who earn money from addiction.”
On Sept. 11, 2024, DEA agents searched Matos’ two residences on Cilley Road and Dubuque Street in Manchester. During the searches, agents seized more than three pounds of fentanyl, one pound of cocaine, $59,045 in cash and an assortment of jewelry worth an estimated $161,675.
“This case highlights the relentless pursuit of those who profit from poisoning our communities,” said Jarod Forget, special agent in charge of the DEA’s New England Field Division. “This defendant led a sophisticated drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing dangerous quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, substances that continue to devastate families across our nation. This sentence sends a clear message: those who traffic deadly drugs and exploit others for profit will be brought to justice.”
