Nashua Chamber to host candidate conversations

NASHUA – The Greater Nashua Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two candidate conversations prior to the Nov. 3 general election.

The first event will feature Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) and Republican challenger Lily Tang Williams. The conversation will be held on Oct. 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Event Center Nashua, 2200 Southwood Dr.

The second event will feature Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte and Democratic challenger Cinde Warmington. The conversation will be held on Oct. 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at DoubleTree Nashua, 2 Somerset Pkwy.

The cost for each event is $35 for Chamber members and $40 for nonmembers. A breakfast buffet will be included.

This year marks the third time that Tang Williams’ has run for the Second Congressional District. In 2022, she lost in the Republican primary election to Robert Burns by nine percent. In 2024, Tang Williams received 35 percent of the vote to defeat 12 other candidates in the primary. Her closest opponent was Vikram Mansharamani, who received 27 percent. She advanced to the general election and lost to Goodlander by six percent. In this year’s primary, Tang Williams garnered 64 percent of the vote and will once again face Goodlander in the general election.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Goodlander received 63 percent of the vote in the 2024 Democratic primary to defeat former state Executive Councilor Colin Van Ostern, who received 36 percent. In the general election, Goodlander emerged as the winner with 52 percent of the vote. In this year’s Democratic primary, Goodlander took 80 percent of the vote to easily defeat State Rep. Paige Beauchemin (D-Nashua).

In the 2024 gubernatorial election, Ayotte garnered 63 percent of the vote to defeat former state Senate President Chuck Morse in the Republican primary. She went on to defeat former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig by nine percent in what was considered the tightest gubernatorial race in the country. Ayotte dominated this year’s Republican primary with 91 percent of the vote over Shaun Fife and Robert McClory.

Warmington, a former member of the state Executive Council, also ran for governor in the last election. However, she lost to Craig in the Democratic primary by six percent. Warmington was unopposed in this year’s primary and automatically advanced to face Ayotte in the general election.
