Winter parking ban goes into effect

The winter months are approaching and unfortunately with that comes bad weather. Your Public Works Department works diligently to provide the safest driving conditions possible when maintaining our streets.

The town of Merrimack has winter parking and snow removal ordinances that go into effect Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Town ordinance (183-19): If the town declares a snow emergency, there will be no parking on town streets and roads until the snow emergency has been lifted.

Winter parking ban (183-17): No vehicle or trailer shall be parked on any public street or highway between the hours of 11 p.m.-6 a.m. from Nov. 15-April 15.

Impeding snow removal (183-18): No vehicle or trailer shall be parked on any public street or highway from Nov. 15-April 15 in such a manner as to impede snow removal.

The Merrimack Police Department and the Merrimack Department of Public Works asks all residents to assist them in their efforts to maintain safe roads and highways by complying with this request.

The departments hope enforcement will not be necessary; however, a violation of this ordinances can be punishable by a fine up to $500. In addition, your vehicle will be towed from the street at your expense.
