Merrimack Library hosts poetry contest

The Merrimack Public Library is accepting entries to its 11th annual Poetry Contest through March 16.

Anyone who writes poetry may submit up to three, original and previously unpublished poems.

First-, second-, and third-place prizes will be awarded in each of three age categories: Adult (age 19 and older), Teen (13-18 years), and Youth (up to age 12). A special recognition for Merrimack residents will also be awarded in each age category.

The winners will be announced and all participants will be given an opportunity to read their work at an Awards Night at the Library at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 17.
