Merrimack house damaged by fire
MERRIMACK – Merrimack Fire received a call from a homeowner at 11 Forest Drive that the house was engulfed in fire Tuesday evening.
Firefighters responded at about 7:10 p.m. As they approached the area, firefighters could see heavy smoke and called for a working fire. A garage and two vehicles outside the home were engulfed in fire.
A second alarm was requested, bringing mutual aid from several towns and cities to the scene, and for station coverage.
Firefighters who first arrived had challenges with water supply, and hose lines were brought to the scene from hydrants a significant distance away.
Crews stretched hose lines to the interior of the house to help prevent the fire from spreading throughout the house, and other crews worked to knock down the fire outside. Nashua Fire extended a ladder truck to the roof and cut ventilation holes to allow the fire to escape.
Several loud popping noises were heard while the cars burned, and live power lines fell to the ground.
The fire extended to the house, and caused heavy smoke and water damage.
Additional information will be added as it becomes available.
