Nashua Community Music School to host Play It Forward concert

MERRIMACK – Students of the Nashua Community Music School are gearing up to showcase their talents on stage at the Play It Forward concert next month.

Now in its 10th year, the concert will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 23 at the Anheuser-Busch Biergarten, 221 Daniel Webster Hwy. Tickets are on sale for $40 and can be purchased at nashuacms.org/playitforward.

“It’s our biggest rock concert of the summer,” said Assistant Director Cody Switzer, adding that the purpose of the concert is to support the next generation of musicians.

Switzer said student band Phantom City will open the show for headliner Big D and The Kids Table.

The featured group is a ska punk band that was formed at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in October 1995. Led by David McWane, Big D and The Kids Table received the Outstanding Ska Band award at the 1999 Boston Music Awards. The band has also performed at the Ska Summit in Las Vegas.

A nonprofit music school, NCMS was founded 40 years ago and is currently located at 2 Locke St. in Nashua. The school offers private lessons, music therapy, music outreach and scholarships.
