Merrimack woman arrested following I-93 chase

CONCORD – Heather Lewis, 34, of Merrimack, was taken into custody on Aug. 15 following a pursuit on Interstate 93 north.
According to State Police, Lewis, who was driving a 2012 Toyota RAV4, was clocked at 93 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. Troopers also reported that the incident occurred at 11:37 p.m. and Lewis did not have her headlights on.
Lewis reportedly refused to stop, prompting troopers to initiate a pursuit. She continued on I-93 and got off at exit 17. As the chase continued, Lewis allegedly drove through a steel gate and a field on private property. The pursuit ended when she crashed into a police cruiser. No injuries were reported.
Lewis has been charged with reckless conduct, resisting arrest/detention, criminal mischief, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, disobeying a police officer, speeding 25-plus mph over the speed limit and operating a motor vehicle without headlights.
She was held on preventive detention and was scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 18 in Concord District Court.
Under state law, if convicted, Lewis could face up to 16 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation, up to $13,434 in fines and having her driver’s license revoked for up to one year.
