Simone B. Chabot

Simone B. Chabot, 92, of Wilton, NH, entered her final rest on February 13, 2011, at the Pheasantwood Nursing Home in Peterborough, NH.

She was born in Manchester, NH, on July 20, 1918, a daughter of George and Aurore (Marcotte) Miville.

Simone attended St. Jean Baptiste grammar school for eight years. Later she moved with her family to a farm in Merrimack, NH. As a young woman, she went to work for the Rudman family in Nashua.

On October 14, 1944, Simone married Paul Chabot, a union that lasted more than 66 years. They raised their family of 9 children in Wilton, NH. Besides being an exceptional mother, caring grandmother and homemaker, Simone worked as a seamstress for Jordan Marsh, a cook for migrant apple pickers, and as a private caregiver for the handicapped and chronically ill. She also volunteered for Monadnock Work Source and Developmental Services of which she and Paul were founding members.

Simone loved baking and sewing and had a lifelong passion for music. Her breads and pizzas were magnets for local parties and events.

Simone is survived by her husband Paul E. Chabot, currently of Pheasantwood Nursing Home, and by her children: Pauline Chabot of Sanbornton, NH, Maryel Chabot of Peterborough, NH, Bernard Chabot of Cambridge, VT, Aurore Chabot of Tucson, AZ, Francis Chabot of Utica, NY, Agnes Chabot Almquist of Winthrop, WA, Pierre Chabot of Hancock, NH, and Victoria Soodak and Christopher Chabot of Wilton, NH; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her ninth child, Matthew, in 1961. She is also survived by 5 of her 8 siblings: Lucienne Lafond of Manchester, NH, Maurice Miville of Daytona, FL, Roland Miville of Miami, FL, Bertrand Miville, and Lina Miville of Manchester, NH.

Simone will be missed by us all. Many thanks to the staff of Pheasantwood Nursing Home for their care of our mother the past four years and particularly their compassion over the last two weeks.

A memorial Mass will be held sometime in May. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Monadnock Developmental Services, 121 Railroad Street, Keene, NH, 03431.

The arrangements are in the care of the Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple St., Wilton, NH. To view an online obituary or leave a condolence, please visit our website, www.michaudfuneralhome.com.
