Jeannette Parker Layton

Jeannette Parker Layton, 91, longtime resident of Lyndeborough, NH, died March 11, 2011 in Sun City, Florida.

She was born in Milford, NH on February 5, 1920, daughter of John R. Martin and Maude Quimby. She graduated from Milford High School and attended Nashua Business School.

A resident of Lyndeborough for 60 years, she worked on the family farm, Parker Apple Farms, while raising her children. In addition, she was employed by Hitchiner Manufacturing Company, Milford for several years.

Jeannette enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, dancing and spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Puritan-Charity-Themis-Atlantic Chapter 29 of the Eastern Star and the Dogwood Reservation Club.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland “Junie” Parker in 1984. Jeannette moved to Florida in l993 where she met and married Andrew Layton. Together, they shared many happy years. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, cruises and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all they enjoyed each other’s company.

In addition to her husband, Andy, and stepson and daughter-in law, George and Naomi Layton, family members include a son, John A. Parker of Temple, NH; four daughters and sons-in law, Sandra and John J. Casey of Lyndeborough, NH, Nancy and Jean H. Demers of Amherst, NH, Martha and Cliff Augst of Nashua, NH, Betty Lowe and Pat Cramer of Norfolk, VA: twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and her beloved dachshund, Gretchen.

A visiting hour will be held on Friday, April 1st, from 12:00-1:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
