John E. Roberts

Lyman, Maine – John E. Roberts, age 70, of Lyman, Maine, formerly of Milford, NH, died suddenly on June 13, 2011. He was born February 27, 1941, in Boston, MA, son of John J. and Lillian A. (Mahan) Roberts. He graduated from Milford High School (NH) (1958), Daniel Webster College Nashua, NH (1973) and New Hampshire College (1976). He served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1966 attaining the rank of RM2. Upon leaving the service he worked for Sanders Associates of Nashua NH from 1966 to 1991. He started a second career in Real Estate with Prudential Marsha W. Foster Realtors and retired from Carlson GMAC Realtors in 2003. Most recently, he worked for Guardsmark as a security officer at Corning in Kennebunk, Maine.

John spent much of his free time researching Genealogy, finding great joy in tracing his family’s lineage. He was a member of the American-Canadian Genealogical Society, Manchester, NH; New England Historic Genealogical Society, Boston, MA; and the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists.He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 3035 as well as the VFW Post #23.

John and his wife Ann (Frye) Roberts had recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on May 5, 2011.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his father, John J. Roberts of Greenback, TN; daughter Patricia and her husband Robert Burgett and children Alyssa and Thomas of Medina, MN; son Michael and his wife Sandra Roberts and children Courtney, Grace, Samuel and Sophia of San Diego, CA; daughter Laurie and her husband Scott Ellis and children Colby and Connor of Kennebunk, ME; and son Anthony of San Diego, CA. Also surviving John are his two sisters, Lillian Grassett and husband Robert of Amherst NH, and Gail Roberts of Greenback, TN.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, where a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

A private burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wilton, NH at a time convenient for the family.
