Richard Irvin Brown

Richard Irvin Brown, age 83, of Brooksville, Florida passed away peacefully on July 19, 2011.

He was born on June 7, 1928, in Tampa, FL, to William T. Brown Sr. and Flossie Mae Griffin Brown. Richard was a 1946 graduate of Hillsborough High School.

He married Martha Ann Rose in Tampa on August 16, 1951. They relocated to Milford, NH, in 1967, where they lived for 25 years.

Richard was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a manufacturing engineer until his retirement from the Sanders Co. in Nashua. He returned to Florida 19 years ago.

Throughout his life, Richard was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed meeting people, telling stories, yard sales, jigsaw puzzles and antique restorations. He was amazing at restoring pictures and their frames. He always had some project in the works and had the ability to fix anything, always finding a clever solution for the problem at hand.

Richard’s claim to fame was being one of the first male Girl Scout leaders (along with Martha) back in the 1950s. If he loved you, you were family.

Richard will be remembered by his children Becky Ann Brown, her partner Mark and Michael Irvin Brown both of Zephyrhills, FL, Vicki Eileen Porter and her husband Gary of Riverview, FL, and Philip Edward Brown and his wife Karen of Westfield, NJ. He is also survived by Jesse G. Brown, brother, of Tampa, FL, his grandchildren Leah, Lindsay, and Ryan Brown, and Doris Blackwell, his loving partner of 19 years. Richard was predeceased by Martha Ann Brown, wife and William T. Brown Jr., brother. Services were held in Tampa through the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Richard’s name to the Milford Girl Scouts or the Milford United Methodist Church.
