Lawrence E. Horne

Lawrence E. Horne, 82, resident of Concord, NH, died September 22, 2011 at Havenwood Heritage Heights, Concord, NH.

He was born in Laconia, NH on January 28, 1929 and was the son of Royce Sanborn and Lillian (Horne) Dubois.

Mr. Horne lived in Concord for the past several months and formerly made his home in Milford, NH for 49 years and Litchfield, NH for 9 years.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Ingersol Rand, Nashua, NH for 42 years.

Mr. Horne served on the Milford Parks and Recreation Committee for several years and also coached Little League for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, skiing, bowling, playing softball, hunting, fishing, and could often be found spending countless hours in his woodworking shop. In addition, he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Mr. Horne was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean War.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Horne and a brother, Armand Dubois.

Family members include his wife of 61 years, Vivian E. (Dunn) Horne of Concord, NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Gary Blanchard of Concord, NH, Wendy-Jo and Neil Tullis of Chichester, NH; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Clayton Dolloff of Meredith, NH, Darlene and David Durgin of Laconia, NH; a brother, Raymond Dubois of Moreland, GA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours are Sunday, September 25th from 3:00-6:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford, NH. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Havenwood Endowment Fund, 33 Christian Avenue, Concord, NH 03301.
