Marion C. Legsdin Niemi

Marion C. Legsdin Niemi, age 79 , of Colonial Square, Peterborough, NH, died September 20, 2011 in Manchester, NH. She was born on January 6, 1932 in Ayer, Mass., the daughter of Fredrick and Ruth (McMahon) Carter. She lived in New Ipswich for 36 years before moving to Peterborough in 2002. She was married to Warren E. Legsdin who preceded her in death in 1998. She married Oliver Niemi in 2000.

Marion was Director of Buildings at Colonial Square for 7 yrs. She also owned and operated the Fitzwilliam Antique Store for many years. She was a secretary for the Guidance Dept. of Mascenic Regional High School.

She mostly enjoyed spending time with her family. She love to read, do puzzles and play cribbage. She enjoyed gardening and going to the beach.

She is survived by her husband Oliver Niemi of Peterborough, children Warren and wife Joanne Legsdin of Westminister, Mass.; Susan Faith and husband Bill of Pembroke, NH; Priscilla Lane-Rondeau and husband Kenneth of Manchester, NH; Oliver Niemi Jr. of New Ipswich; John Niemi of Greenville and Carol N. Nadeau of Miami Beach, Fla. She is survived by a twin brother Harold Carter of Lohman, Missouri, a brother Robert Carter of East Douglas, Mass. and sister Ruth Humphrey of Kentucky. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 200 Ashby Rd., New Ipswich with the Rev. David Batchelder officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, New Ipswich.
