John H. Savard
John H. Savard, 83, of Oceanside, California, died on September 9, 2016. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and was formerly a resident of Amherst and Mason New Hampshire. He was the son of the late Ray and Virginia Savard of Milford New Hampshire.
John Served in the Air Force as crew chief on a B-47 Bomber in the 324th Squadron of Strategic Air Command during the Korean War.
John worked for General Electric Co. for 42 years. During his employment at GE he was involved with many projects including; J-85 Jet Engine assembly, Gemini Space Craft fuel cell development and Steam Turbine Assembly.
John was a man of many interests. He was a downhill ski instructor, avid collector of antiques – especially of early New England redware. John developed an early interest in Photography when he worked for a camera shop during his high school years. This passion continued his whole life. He could usually be seen with a camera in his hand waiting patiently for the perfect light.
John is survived by his wife Penny Dunbar Savard and his sons Timothy D. Skeer of Carlsbad CA. and Thomas H. Skeer of Fredericksburg VA. He is also survived by Daughter in Law’s Erin Skeer and Lisa Skeer and 4 grandchildren; Allison, Cara, Thomas and Elliott.
Burial will be at a later date on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, where John and Penny spent 43 wonderful summers.
