Nancy Joan Hicks

Nancy Joan Hicks, 82, a longtime resident of Milford, passed away peacefully, on June 20, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, at Concord Hospice House.  She was born in Lynn, MA on May 12, 1935, daughter of the late Henry Heath and Virginia McDonough. She married her beloved husband Alvan W Hicks Sr. in Lynn in 1955. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Raised and educated in Lynn, Nancy graduated from Lynn English High School, and then attended the Chanler School for Women in Boston.  Nancy was a loving and devoted stay at home mother to her four children while they were young. As they grew up, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Bob’s Appliance Center in Milford where she worked for many years before retiring. During retirement, Nancy enjoyed being a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana”.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, and baking. She is best known for her delicious pies, and “pinwheel cake”, a family favorite.  Nancy got great enjoyment planning and going on numerous family trips and cruises.  Summers were spent enjoying their home on Barndoor Island on Lake Winnipesaukee.  The lake house holds a very special place in all our hearts.
