Mary A. Mackintosh

Mary A. Mackintosh passed away May 31, 2017, after a brief hospitalization in Novi, Michigan. Mary had been living in Brighton, Michigan, near family since 2015 but was a long time resident of Lyndeboro, NH.

Mary was born October 16, 1928 in Watertown, MA to Alfred M. O’Donnell and Annie Sofia (Lane) O’Donnell. The O’Donnell family moved to Lyndeboro, NH in 1945 to live on a farm. Mary graduated from Milford High School in 1946 and after graduation worked at Textron ( a textile industry) in Milford where she sewed piecework. Later the building was occupied by the Milford Cabinet.

Mary married Robert C. Mackintosh Sr. on July 4, 1947 and they remained in Lyndeboro for their 65 years of marriage where they raised their family. Mary enjoyed being active in the community where she was assistant Girl Scout leader, served on the school board, was a supervisor of the checklist and was on the founding board of Goss Park. She was also a member of the local Extension group. Mary enjoyed many crafts, camping and hiking.

Mary worked at Parker Farms and at Holt Brothers in Lyndeboro. She later worked as a postal clerk at the Greenfield Post Office until her retirement.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Robert C Mackintosh Sr., her son Robert C. Mackintosh Jr., her granddaughter Ryann C. Mackintosh, two brothers Alfred and Robert O’Donnell and sister Esther Hutchinson.

Family members include two daughters, Gail (Jim) McNulty of Bushnell, Florida and Susan (Steve) Monet of Brighton, MI; daughter-in-law Martha Mackintosh of Wilton, NH ; brother Thomas O’Donnell of Rochester, NY and sister-in-laws Dorothy Annatone of Hamden, CT and Phyllis Lorette O’Donnell of Granbury, TX; grandsons Keith and Dana McNulty, granddaughter Katherine (Scott) Scheich, grandson Daniel (Angela) Monet and granddaughter Hannah Mackintosh. Mary is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will take place September 30th at 12:30 pm at the South Cemetery in Lyndeboro, NH.
