Richard Bardsley

Richard Bardsley, 71, longtime resident of Amherst, NH passed away peacefully on December 3, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH, after heart and diabetes complications. 

He will be sorely missed by his wife of 22 years, June (Carrier) Bardsley; his daughter, Christine Brown and husband, Jeff; grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan; stepson, Andrew Mathieson; brother, Gerald Bardsley and wife, Jill; sister, Diana (Bardsley) Scott; many nieces and nephews; and close friends.  He is predeceased by his parents; brother, James Bardsley Jr. and sister, Norma Terrill. 

Rick was born on September 21, 1946 in Nashua and raised in Hudson, the son of James and Thelma (Bancroft) Bardsley. 

In his early years, Rick attended Alvirne High School and graduated in the class of 1964.  He served as a welder in the United States Navy from 1964-1967. After leaving the military, he trained to become an electrician and worked for many years at Kollsman. He became a master electrician in 1983 and founded Belco Electric in Amherst, NH.  For the past 31 years, Rick happily provided electrical services for many families and companies in the southern New Hampshire region.   

Rick had a passion for many hobbies and was an avid tinkerer.  He was a former member and president of United Divers of NH dive club; an avid scuba diver and even had the opportunity to dive in the New England Aquarium in Boston.  He held officer positions in the Amoskeag Sail & Power Squadron.  He was a boating enthusiast, a member of the Great Cove Boat Club in Eliot, ME and enjoyed boating on Lake Winnipesaukee throughout the years.  He was an avid traveler and even co-owned a house in the Turks & Caicos islands.  Rick was also a classic car enthusiast.  He enjoyed working on his classic cars at home in his garage and going to car shows.  Another one of his favorite past times was listening to music and going to live shows with his wife, June and nephew, Rob.

One of Rick’s most prominent characteristics was his goofy sense of humor – he had the nurses at the hospital and his family laughing until the end.  In recent years, his favorite activity was spending time and going on adventures with his grandsons, who he affectionately called “my boys” and whom brought him great joy.  

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held Saturday December 9, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 am (immediately following visiting hours) in the chapel of the Davis Funeral Home.
