Arthur E. ‘Art’ McKinney

Arthur (Art) Eugene McKinney, age 78, of Inverness, FL (formally of Amherst, NH) passed from this earth at Citrus Memorial Hospital on July 17, 2018. Art was born on November 3, 1939 in Boston, MA to the late Daniel and Hester (Honeywell) McKinney. He was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard for 9 years. A Catholic by faith, he married the love of his life, Patricia (Pat) (Rollins) in 1962 and helped raise two children. He was employed for many years by Sanders Associates, a government systems contractor based in Nashua, NH. In 1987 Art and Pat moved to Citrus Hills, Florida and Art became the Circulation Director for the Citrus Chronicle for several years before his retirement. Art, during semi-retirement, went to work as a school bus driver for Citrus County Schools for several more years.

Art was always very active in the communities in which he lived, having served for many years in the fire service, culminating as a Lieutenant for the Amherst, NH Fire Department where he also served as their fire prevention officer. During his service time in Amherst, NH, Art also arranged for annual trips for firefighters to Walt Disney World in Florida. In Florida Art was past President of the Citrus Sertoma Club, past Ambassador for the Crystal River Chamber of Commerce, former Secretary for the Windermere Home Owners Association, and also a Volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital for a number of years. Art, a heart patient survivor, was also a member of the Mended Hearts Club. In his spare time, Art enjoyed walking the Withlacoochee State Trail on a daily basis, playing with his family and friends at Disney World and exploring the world by land, sea, and air.

In addition to his loving wife Patricia, Arthur is survived by his daughter, Laura Hannam and her husband Geoff of Leesburg, FL; His son, William McKinney and wife Pamela of Mont Vernon, NH; grandchildren: Jessica Kerouac, Jason Kerouac, Kyle Jackson; and great granddaughter, Ava Jackson. Art was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel McKinney, JR and his sister, Phyllis Garner. A Celebration of Life was held in Inverness, FL on July 28, 2018.
