Dalton Elwin Jewett

Dalton Elwin Jewett, resident of San Bernardino, CA and formerly of Milford NH, died peacefully at home, just a few days shy of his 90th birthday, surrounded by loved ones on December 8, 2020.

He was born in Milford, NH on December 17, 1930, the son of Edwin & Agnes (Converse) Jewett. He graduated from Milford High School, class of 1949. He served two years in the United States Army, being stationed in France for part of his military service. Over his lifetime he served his community in various capacities, including working a farm with his brother-in-law, Frank Martin; mechanic with Draper Chevrolet; oil delivery and burner cleaning with Sprague Oil and Lumbertown; church janitor for Milford First Congregation Church and volunteer firefighter. Upon retirement, he worked part-time with Sanel Auto Parts.

He was a member of Milford First Congregational Church for most of his life, even after moving to southern California; a member of IOOF Lodge in Milford; a member of the American Legion of Milford.

Dalton was predeceased by his parents, brother Robert, sister Cynthia just passing two months prior in October 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 61+ years, Janet Jewett; a daughter and son-in-law with whom he made his home, Denise and Pascual Casas of San Bernardino, CA; three sons and daughters-in-law Darryl and Laurie Jewett of Merrimack NH, Chris Jewett & Patricia Carr of Brooklyn NY, Glenn and Pamela Jewett of Milford, NH; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

Each one guided and assisted us in caring for Dalton with compassion and tenderness.
