Eleanor Forsyth Wood

Eleanor Forsyth Wood, known fondly to all as Ellie, passed away peacefully at her Milford home at the age of 81 surrounded by her loving family on February 20th.

Ellie was joyfully brought into this world on July 13, 1941 by the late Emma Provasoli and Thomas Forsyth Jr, to whom she adored and was devoted to her entire life. Her childhood in Milford, NH was spent playing in the sun, helping her maternal Italian and paternal Scottish immigrant grandparents on their farms, capping root beer with her older brothers Tommy and Jimmy, and daily walks to the Milford oval to catch a movie and nab some penny candy with her grandfather. After graduating from Milford High, while working towards an exciting career as an X-ray tech at Sacred Heart Hospital, she met and eventually married the love of her life, William Wood III (whom she fondly – quite loudly – howled BIIILLLL!!!). Their hearts were full as they raised their three daughters, Tamara, Samantha, and Cameron. Ellie eventually opted to stay at home with her children first in New York, then for many years in Westfield, MA, as Bill traveled as a salesman. She filled her days with beach trips, cooking handwritten recipes from her mother, bringing her girls to the Big E, and saturating every nook and cranny of her home with Annalee Dolls come Christmas time.

In the late eighties, the family relocated to Minnesota for a decade. During this time, Ellie was blessed as a grandmother, by way of her daughter Cameron, with Sabin and Gino Olsen. Summers at their Lake Carmi camp in Franklin, VT kept Ellie close with her parents, brothers, nieces and nephews. She rejoiced in relocating to her hometown of Milford with Bill, Cam & the grandkids, and soon after Sam joined as well. The family stayed incredibly close, and she enjoyed a home full of kids, grandkids, and some incredibly cuddly puppies. She loved nothing more than soaking up the sun, tending to her flowers and tomatoes; enjoying visits with her niece Holly, husband Brice Johnson and their daughter, Fiona; cracking jokes with her signature sarcasm and flashy grin; and trucking around with her best friend who called her Grammie, Gino – always strapped with a fully loaded cooler.

She is survived and greatly missed by her loving husband William Wood III of Milford, NH; daughters Tamara Wood of Plymouth, MN, Samantha Wood and best friend of Milford, NH, and Cameron Olsen of Milford NH; her grandchildren Sabin Wenger and husband, Emery, of Lowell, MA, and Gino Olsen of Milford, NH; finally her brother Jimmy’s wife, Cynthia, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Emma Provasoli and Thomas Forsyth Jr; as well as her brothers Thomas Forsyth III and his wife, Janet, and Jimmy Forsyth.

In lieu of services, the family will be planning a celebration of life this July. Pull up a seat and find details and information as well as a space to share memories and photographs in the Facebook group “Celebration of Ellie Mae.”
