Jean-Pierre Lamarre

Jean-Pierre Lamarre – husband of Lisa (Noland) Lamarre; father of Stephan, Sarah and Sophia; son and son-in-law; brother and brother-in-law; friend, and all-around totally awesome person – passed away on May 10, 2024 at the age of 56.

Born on May 13, 1967, in Westchester, PA, Pierre is the fourth of the ten children of Clément and Brenda Lamarre. He is survived by his mother, and his siblings Renée (Gardiner) and her husband Joseph of Nashua, NH; Andréa (Carey) and her husband Robert of Longmeadow, MA; Clement, Jr. and his wife Terri of South Dartmouth, MA; Jacques and his husband Arthur Galinat of Manchester, CT; Gilbert and his wife Patty of Riverview, FL; Paul and Pierre’s sister-in-law Rebecca of Wakefield, MA; Marie-Claire and her husband Jeff Tomkins of Oak Bluffs, MA; Charles of Revere, MA; and Jacqueline (Petrella) and her husband Steven of Simsbury, CT.

In addition to being a cherished member of the Lamarre Family, he was equally adored by his family in marriage. He is survived by his mother-in-law Bonnie Noland of Plymouth, MA; John Noland III and his wife Denise of Kingston, MA; Lola Rizzotto and her husband Robert of Plymouth, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews on both the Noland and Lamarre sides. Pierre is pre-deceased by his father Clément and his father-in-law John. It is doubtless that they are together in Heaven enjoying a game of cribbage, a round of drinks, and more than a few laughs.

Pierre was raised in Berwyn, PA; Acton, MA; and Amherst, NH. He was a graduate of Milford Area Senior High School (MASH) in Milford, NH, Class of ’85. He attended Providence College, Class of ’89 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Throughout his college career, he held a summer position as Pool Director for Keyes Field in Milford, N.H.

He started his professional career in Hospitality/Hotel Management with a position at the Sheraton Tara in Nashua, NH. Believing that he needed to learn the business from the ground up, Pierre worked as a cater waiter, a bell captain, a front desk manager, on up to the position of general manager. His career took him to management positions at various Marriott and Hilton Hotel properties in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Colorado, New Hampshire, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. At the time of his passing, he was the Regional Director of Operations for Colwen Hotels, overseeing multiple properties in the Colwen portfolio. Pierre’s incomparable work ethic could be seen in his willingness to work as a senior manager who was also willing to roll up his sleeves and jump in wherever a need arose.

Pierre and his family recently settled in Providence, RI, looking forward to creating a new home in a city familiar from his college years. His wife Lisa is a phlebotomist, while his son Stephan is a bartender at a golf club in Maryland. His daughter Sarah is a recent graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his daughter Sophia just completed her freshman year at Duquesne University.

Pierre’s loves could be summed up easily: family, friends, travel, his Catholic faith, and music. He was an empathetic listener, a joke-teller, a laugher, and a leavening presence in a topsy-turvy world. Pierre always had a song in his heart and on his lips. He was a saxophonist for the MASH band, Nashua’s Marching Spartans, and the Providence College Pep Band. As a vocalist, he was a member of the MASH Chorus and A cappella Choir, Granite Statesmen Barbershop Chorus, and Washington, D.C.’s Supreme Chord. He was immensely proud to have toured the U.S., Sweden, and Japan as a performer with Up With People. Pierre could be found singing to his children, his wife, and leading sing-alongs with friends and family.

Jean-Pierre positively impacted every life that came into his orbit. His infectious smile, compassionate heart, and harmonious spirit drew people to him…and we were all better for his presence. He was a joyous and beautiful soul. In a world full of jerks, we should all be a Pierre.
